This Nicholson 31 is like no other. She is a one-owner vessel and her condition inside and out testify to that fact. In superb condition throughout you could be forgiven to think she was no more than 5 years old and not Hull Number 97 first launched in 1979 !
The Nicholson 31, was in production for 4 years from 1976 to 1980 during which time 119 were built. The ‘31’ succeeded the very popular Nicholson 32, but the Raymond Wall design of the Nick 31 with its long keel soon became the choice of the experienced offshore enthusiast and in particular a favourite of the single handed sailor. Many Nick 31’s have undertaken serious off shore passages. Dolly V is still in her first ownership and the family have regularly cruised to Normandy, Brittany, the Channel Islands, the West Country and the Isles of Scilly
Just one reef in the main and a full jib, autohelm on, she tracks along hour after hour, stress free and as a result in total comfort due to her keel configuration. Coupled with her extensive stowage areas, she easily carries enough provisions and equipment for those longer passages.
The Nick 31 is recognised by many discerning sailors and as the ‘Sea Boat Benchmark’ by which others are judged.
But let’s not forget her good lines, wide side decks, deep and safe cockpit that makes her standout as a true cruising classic
Dolly V is truly an exceptional example on the ‘Nick 31’. This one is ready for a new owner, ready for a new adventure be it off-shore or local coastal cruising she makes the perfect craft for either
Accommodation
From the companionway there is a good sized chart table to starboard with quarter berth behind. To port is a workable and sea-kindly galley equipped with Flavel Gas Cooker with 2 burner hob and grill a Sink and a Fridge.
Further forward is a traditional saloon with centre table leading forward to a port side heads with washbasin to starboard and in the bows is the traditional v-berth with infill making a double.
Dolly V has recently been re-upholstered in the original style to maintain her character and the quality of the teak joinery enhances the class of this vessel.
The saloon converts to a double plus single berths.
